Our 8,000 square foot St. Lucia subcontracting Facility is located in the St. Lucia Freezone.  We offer our clients a full spectrum of services from the least involvement of straight subcontracting to business consulting and the establishment of captured manufacturing.

Increasing Customer Involvement            subcontracting.................shelter service..................wholly owned facility

We will tailor the plan to fit your needs.  One basic business model is as follows:

  • We will come to your plant and become familiar with your products and processes
  • We will help you to choose the appropriate products and processes for offshore transfer
  • Equipment and inventory (owned by customer) will be sent to St. Lucia (logistics handled by Paladin)
  • We will provide the value-add at negotiated rates (save over 50% of U.S. labor) and return the product to your facility or to another location
  • There are significant reductions in duty if shipped directly to other parts of the world

This provides you with a low risk means of entry into the offshore labor market.  We use out manufacturing expertise to ensure that the product transfer is successful.  In St. Lucia, we continue to ensure a quality product through the diligent application of Lean Manufacturing principles.

Shelter Services
A shelter service is a hybrid of subcontracting and total ownership.  We provide the facility and HR services while the people are your employees.  This can provide a smooth transition between subcontracting and ownership of an offshore company.  Your management team becomes experienced in running an offshore operation while we handle the administrative end.

Our Subcontracting Facility

We are located in one of St. Lucia's Freezone industrial parks (link to St. Lucia Trade Zone).  These industrial parks are within several miles of ocean transportation and right next to the airport.  They have been established to cater to the needs of duty free manufacturers.  Materials are moved in and out of the zones without customs formalities.

Excellence in manufacturing is even more important in an offshore factory than in a domestic one.  Shorter manufacturing cycle times are required to compensate for longer material transit times.  Separation of manufacturing from the technical base means that manufacturing procedures and processes need to be repeatable and consistent.

Paladin's St. Lucia  factory is based upon the Lean Manufacturing principles - successfully used by our management in other St. Lucia factories.  This is in many instances easier to do offshore as there are few preconceived concepts as to how manufacturing should be done.  Manufacturing is arranged in work cell teams, employing just-in-time techniques.  Each team has a highly trained team leader to handle logistics, supervisory issues and to continuously improve the work cell's performance.

Materials handling utilizes a kanban pull system where applicable.  Weekly consolidated shipments are pulled from a warehouse in Miami, Florida.  Both air and sea transportation are available.

Both the St. Lucia Freezone and the National Development Corporation have factory space available for expansion.
